She was born July 4, 1925, in Rushville, the daughter of Henry and Hazel Carroll Lenover. She married Robert L. Newenham on April 13, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1978.
Mrs. Newenham was a homemaker and had also worked as the head cook for St. Mary's School in Mount Sterling, and for several years Erma served as a babysitter for many area children.
She attended Schuyler County schools. Erma was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Sterling and member of the Mount Sterling American Legion Post 374 Auxiliary.
Survivors include two children:

Wanda Young and her husband, Don of Riverton
Four grandchildren:

Rob Newenham of Wayne, Illinois

She was preceded in death by her parents;
one son, Jerry Newenham;
and three brothers,
Donald, Eugene and Junior Lenover.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Hendricker Funeral Home in Mount Sterling, Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.
Burial will be at Rushville City Cemetery in Rushville.
