Ruth Ravan Raines

Born in Landrum, SC, Ruth Ravan Raines, 89, died at home in Spartanburg on October 17th. Wife of the late James Walden (Doc) Raines, she was predeceased by sons, John Heyward and James Carroll Raines. She was the daughter of the late Minnie Wofford and A.L. Ravan, Sr., and was a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church in Landrum.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, W. Keith and Cynthia Sebrell Raines; a sister, Charlotte Ravan Owen and brothers A.L. Ravan, Jr. and D.L. (Monk) Revan; 9 grandchildren and step grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice at 6000 Pelham Road, Suite B, Greenville, SC 29615 or Mobile Meals of Spartanburg at 419 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00am Friday at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the church conducted by Rev. Chuck Mullinax. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home.
