Jake was the father of 5 children; 4 daughters and 1 son. He married Inez Jones in 1928 in Edom, TX. Proceeded in death by his young daughter Jakeline at age 3, parents and 2 grandsons Greg Bixler and Michael Robinson.

His parents were Julia Ida Herod and William Charlie R. Robinson of Houston County, TX who were married in 1889. 5 slibings; Maudie, Lannie, Toney, Jasper, Ida Mae and Major. His parents remarried and each had more children.

He was a local farmer in Edom and supported many extended family members during the Depression. During the Depression men would bring their ammo to Jake for him to hunt game because he was a good shooter. He would go deer hunting with his son-in-laws. I have a great picture of him with a buck. Brought his harvest to the Dallas Farmers Market to be sold. Later, he went to worked for the Richardson ISD in Richardson, TX where he retired. He could be found on Saturday playing dominos downtown Edom and later downtown Tyler. Loved to take long walks and read his Bible. I remember as a little girl seeing him singing in the choir at First Baptist of Edom.

Our Papaw was lots of fun as a Grandfather. He took his Grandchildren often to the Tyler Zoo and Putt Putt. Played games with us but wouldn't let you win at checkers or dominos. He would make crazy noises, laugh and joke with us. At Christmas he would place dollar bills on the Christmas tree and one by one each Grandchild gathered our gift from our Papaw from the tree. When we would leave from our visit he gave each of us a few coins for candy. He bought my cousin a lawn mower to help him make money mowing yards. Even as an adult he gave me trinkets. He was thoughtful and caring.

There was a sadden about Papaw. Some from the early death of his young daughter Jakeline who was named after him; from this Mother leaving the family when he was 3 and his new home burned down in Edom in the 50's. My Father would say "Jake wasn't right after the house burn and the family lost everything." Papaw was a simply man and knew his Bible. All of this children were faithful in the Christian church and teachings. We all were better for Papaw being in our lives.

Footnote: Early the family spelled last name as Robison and later adapted to Robinson.
