Ruth Inez McGarry died July 22, 2009 at the age of eighty-four. She resided at 2835 East Nila Way (4120 South) in Holladay, Utah at the time of her death.
She was born on September 12, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Walter F. Patton and Bertha Mabel Patton.
On September 26, 1942, she married Sheridan L. McGarry.
Ruth helped start the Holladay Baptist Church as a mission in the basement of a dry goods store in the center of Holladay. She continued to support the work until the final completion of the Holladay Baptist Church. She enjoyed the years she spent teaching young children in Sunday School Bible Study. She loved gospel music and played the organ and piano for church services, and later sang in the choir.
Ruth enjoyed the outdoor activities, especially fishing and playing golf. She was a member of the Willow Creek Country Club for 36 years.
She is survived by her husband, three children, Sheridan L. McGarry, Jr., Cheryl L. Watkins, Lex A. McGarry, and four grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, on the 27th day of July 2009. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the same location.
Interment is at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Services will begin at 12:00 noon.
