In Caruthersville, on January 17, 1938, he was married to Miss Anna Mae Hicks and on October 2, 1942, was inducted into the U.S. Army at Jefferson Barracks. He was discharged from the service at Jefferson Barracks on November 25, 1945 and returned to this area, working as a pilot for the Cottonwood Ferries until he became ill. He was a member of American Legion Post 88.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Cottonwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Adrian Knipper officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Funeral Home service.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Blurton of the home; a son, Douglas Blurton of Memphis; a daughter, Miss Pamela Blurton of the home; his mother, Mrs. Lillie Mae Blurton of Route 1, City; two brothers, Albert Blurton Jr. of Caruthersville; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Blagburn of Benton Harbor, Mich. and four grandchildren.
