Samuel Thomas Belt, 86, of Greeneville, died Friday at Laughlin Healthcare Center.

Mr. Belt, who was retired from The Austin Company, was a lifelong farmer.

He attended Mt. Bethel Church as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Minnie Belt, and by six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include: his wife of 48 years: Freda Belt; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Peggy Henderson of Limestone, and Janie and Gary Norton and Lisa and Bobby Hilton, all of Greeneville; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Jimmy and Joy Belt of Limestone, Bruce and Twylla Belt of Afton, Ricky and Brenda Carter of Chuckey, and Leon Williams of Bulls Gap; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jeffers Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Keith Williams and the Rev. Tommy Malone will officiate.

Interment will be in Graceland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Ripley, Bobby Ripley, Charles William, Bradon Malone, Ronnie McAmis and Rocky Belt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Paxton and Jackie Behmyer.
