Julia was born about 1822. Her county of origin and parents are unknown.

Julia married Joseph Masterson. Their first child, Mary Ann, was born in Ireland about 1845. Joseph immigrated in 1846. It is unknown whether Julia and Mary Ann migrated with him or separately.

The couple had seven other children in America: John about 1849 (died 1853), James F. in 1852, John Michael in 1854, Joseph William in 1856, Jane in 1859 and William in 1861. The children were born in Massachusetts and New Jersey.

The family eventually settled in Lambertville in 1861, and Julia lived there for the rest of her life.

Julia's obituary describes her as a large woman. The cause of death was heart disease.

It is assumed, but not confirmed, that Julia was buried in Saint John's Cemetery, Lambertville with her husband and most of her children.

Julia had 25 grandchildren and 245 known additional descendants as of late 2007.
