Bertha Birdie Robison Stevens, 80, died May 27, 1992 in Provo after a stroke.

Born May 10, 1912 in Baker, Nevada to James Frederick and Birdie Swallow Robison. She grew up in Garrison, Utah and Baker, Nevada. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1934 and taught in White Pine High School, Ely Nevada. Bertha's marriage to Owen Cowley Stevens 1 Aug, 1935 was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From 1936 to 1968 they resided in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Hartford Conneticut, where their voluntary service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints led to the acquisition and construction of the first chapels in New England.

Bertha served the Primary, YWMIA, and the Relief Society at branch district and mission levels, and served a mission with her husband in Vermont. In 1970, Bertha moved to Provo and served many years in the Provo Temple.

She is survived by her children, Owen James Stevens, Birdie Stevens Rasmussen, and Verlie Stevens Peer, all of Provo/Orem; three brothers, Elwin A. and Newal J. Robison of Reno, Nev.; and George S. Robison, Wilbraham, Mass.; two sisters, Alpha Lambert, American Fork; and Beulah Bowen, Burley, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, in the Oak Hills 6th Ward Chapel, 1900 North 1500 East, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Provo, Monday, 6-9 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel.
