Obituary
Sylvester H. Clark was born in Ohio, February 15, 1838, and died at the Soldiers Home hospital, Burkett, Neb., on February 18, 1922, at the age of 84 years and 3 days. In August, 1858 he was married to Margaret G. Plumb. There were born to this union 14 children, seven sons and seven daughters, of whom there are living three sons and five daughters. Mr. Clark enlisted in the 33rd regiment of the Ohio volunteer infantry and served for three years during the Civil war. Surviving him are his son: Eli, of Sioux City, Ia., Sylvester H. and John H, of Perry, Okla., five daughters, Mrs. Mary Arnstutz, of Perry, Okla., Mrs. Isabel Terrel, of Orlando, Okla., Mrs. Alpharetta Dunton, of Crocker, Mo., Mrs. Janie Dixon, of Sargent, Neb., and Mrs. Sarah Scammey, of Macksville, Kas., the latter being the only one able to be with him in his last illness. A sister, residing at Lucasville, O., survives him, also 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and on great great grandchild. Funeral services were held from the chapel at Burkett on Sunday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Stitt and honors were paid to the guard under Commandant Waite. Interment was made in the Soldiers Home cemetery at Burkett.
