Doris "Dot" Faye Hawley Davis ,95, passed away at Singing River Hospital on August 29th.

She was born December 21, 1926 and was a lifelong resident of Vancleave.

She was a graduate of Vancleave High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and tennis. Dot continued her education and athletic participation in both basketball and tennis at Perkinston Junior College. After receiving her Associate Degree, she attended Mississippi Southern College (USM) in Hattiesburg.

She was a member of the Vancleave RLDS Church but had many fond memories of attending several churches within walking distance of her childhood home.

Dot married H. P. Davis, a D-Day veteran, also of Vancleave in 1948. Dot and H. P. spent 52 wonderful years together where they cherished time spent with family and friends. They owned and operated H. P. Davis Grocery, where they enjoyed interacting with their employees and the community they served. Those dear to Dot would show up at their home for her famous cooking. She would "stir pots" until a feast was presented, and all would walk away full after the post-meal dinner table discussions.

Another love in Dot's life was her sister, Margie. The two sisters were inseparable in their activities, including working at the store, attending church, going to eat out, and visiting friends together.

She was kind, sweet, gracious, firm in her beliefs, and was a southern genteel lady. She loved to laugh and was always attentive to other's needs.

Preceding her in death are her husband H. P. Davis; parents, Latta Pulaski and Mamie Hawley; sister, Margie DeLancey; brother, Joseph Hawley, and an infant son.

Surviving her are her son, Craig Davis (Susan); daughter, Amy Owens (David); grandchildren Jamie Dickson (Brad), Robyn Lott (Chip), Julie Peterson (Jessie), Hal Davis (Katie), Presley Owens, and Cassidy Owens; and 10 great grandchildren.

Pall bearers are Hal Davis, Chip Lott, Chandler Dickson, Luke Dickson, John Peterson, and Cannon Peterson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Vancleave RLDS Church. Friends may visit one hour prior.

Burial to follow at the Vancleave #1 Cemetery.

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Doris "Dot" Davis.
