Captain Sloan was indeed originally buried in the family graveyard known as the Sloan Plantation Cemetery in Pendleton, SC. In fact, in his will dated 1821, Captain Sloan requested he be buried there. But according to US GenWeb Archives on the Sloan Plantation Cemetery, in 1928, a cousin, Thomas Sloan, relocated the tombstones of 5 members of the family because Lake Hartwell would eventually flood the area. The stones of Captain Sloan, his wife, Susannah Majors Sloan, his daughter, Elizabeth Sloan Stribling and her husband, Jesse, and the infant daughter of David Sloan, Jr, (Mary Sloan) were relocated to Andersonville Cemetery. It was not clear if the bodies were re-interred or just the tombstones relocated.
