Effie Armeta Rogers, 70, who was born near Nemaha, 20 Nov 1874, passed away at a Falls City hospital, Saturday Oct 20.
In 1866 her parents, Ezra and Mary Rogers, moved to Nebraska from Illinois. They settled on the farm where the deceased was born, Except for a few years spent attending college in Peru, she had spent her entire lifetime near her pioneer home.
She was united in marriage to Charles G. Duerfelt, 28 Feb 1894 at the home of her parents. To this union there were born 10 children, eight of which survive their mother. Two died in infancy.
Mrs. Duerfeldt has been a faithful member of the Christian church at Nemaha for many years, and has taken an active part in the affairs of the church.
Those surviving her are: Her husband, Charles; daughters, Mrs. Albert Williams, Stella; Mrs. Wm Haeffele, Rulo; Mrs. Kenneth Stiers, Nemaha; Mrs. Ernest Brod, Peru; four sons, Clyde, Floyd, and Delbert Duerfeldt, live on farms near Nemaha and Glen Duerfeldt, Auburn. Besides these she is survived by 19 grandchildren, One sister, Mrs Laura Coons, Drain, Oregon. Three brothers Alva Rogers Auburn, Roy Rogers Nemaha; and Eddie Rogers, Monroe, Oregon, besides other relatives and a great host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday 22 Oct at 2;00 P.M. at Christian church in Nemaha, with Rev. Daniel Escritt, officiating.
Interment was made at Prairie Union cemetery with Casey and Timm Funeral home in charge in funeral arrangements.
