C.C. was the son of James Sams b 1799, and Elvira Adeline Wright b 1810. The children of James and Elvira were:

1. John Robert Sams b 1830
2. Lt William Joseph Sams b 1833
3. Christopher Columbus Sams b 1835
4. Mary Ann Sams b 1838

Lt William Sams died in the Civil War, and left his wife, Sara M. Sams a widow. Christopher Columbus married her after the war. C. C. married 1) Martha Whitaker 24 Aug 1858 in Fayette Co. Ga. She died 5 Oct 1860. He married 2) Sara Martha Ozborn in Jul 1865. The following is a list of children, born of C. C. and Sara. I believe there may have been one child born by Martha, but don't have that name:

3. Harry Sams b 1870
4. Marie Sams b 1870
