Alfred "Cactus" Lame Jr., 71, of Parkersburg, died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday Dec. 1, 1996 at his residence.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Dennis Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Full military rites will be performed at the graveside.

Lame was born April 22, 1925 in Richland County, the son of Alfred and Zelmer (Woodruff) Lame Sr. He married Grace Tracy in 1948.
He retired in 1988 after 37 years as a service technician at GTE. He was a member of Parkersburg United Methodist church, was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, of Parkersburg: a son, Jay D. Lame and his wife, Carolyn of Calhoun; a daughter, Sharon Hickenbottom and her husband Allen, of Grayville; three brothers, Irl Lame, Herbert Lame, and Clarence Lame, all of Parkersburg; a sister, Trella Lomas of Parkersburg; and two grandchildren, Shane Hickenbottom of Evansville, Ind., and Kelli Higgins of Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, an infant sister and granddaughter, Shana.
