Note: The cemetery record shows that Amanda Marshall was the wife of Daniel G. Caudle, but census records show that she was married to Daniel C. Caudle. His full name was supposedly Daniel Clayton Caudle, after his mother's maiden name. More research should be performed to determine which Daniel Caudle Amanda married: Daniel C. Caudle or Daniel G. Caudel.

Daniel's parents, Bennett and Cynthia Clayton Caudle ,came to Texas from Tennessee in November 1841. Bennett was born about 1806, possibly in Wilkes County, NC to James and Mary Caudle. There were at least three other sons in the family- William, Mark, and James Jr, and possibly a fourth, John. The family moved to Henry County, TN, probably in the 1820's. Bennett married Cynthia Clayton, daughter of William. The Caudle clan moved to Texas and settled in East Texas in what is now Titus County near Mount Pleasant. Bennett received patent No. 524 for 480 acres in the Red River District, Titus County. Conditional certificate No. 229 was issued in Lamar County on March 7, 1842, and unconditional certificate No. 110 was issued in Titus County, Feb 21, 1853 after his death. He also received patent No 525 in Red River District, Titus County, on the same date and the unconditional certificate was issued also on Feb 21, 1853.
Bennett Caudle died about 1846, probably in Titus County, and his wife, Cynthia, died after 1860, also probably in Titus County.
Bennett and Cynthia's children were: William Hawkins {1830-1895}; Mary Ann Elizabeth{1833-1870}; Sarah Frances {born 1837}; Mahala Jane {born 1839}; Daniel Clayton {1835-1883}; James H. (1841-1906}; Bennett Harrison {born 1843}, killed in War Between the States. {Source: Daughters of The Republic of Texas, Patriot Ancestor Album. Found on the webite: Texas Genealogy Trails)
