ADA — Services for Thelma Martin, 100, Ada, are 11 a.m. Friday, at Criswell Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Carl Hayes officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin died Oct. 20, 2004, at a local assisted living center.

She was born April 21, 1904, at Stratford to Sam Boatright and Aurella Watts Boatright.

She graduated from Stratford High School in 1921, and was a member of the state championship girls basketball team. She received her master's
degree from East Central State College in 1953. She taught grade school at various schools for more than 30 years, retiring from the McLish school system.

She was a long-time member of the Asbury Methodist Church.

She married J.E. Martin on Jan. 21, 1922. He died Sept. 10, 1977.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James E. Martin Jr. Oct. 10, 1994, and Ted Martin on July 23, 1983; four sisters, Mayme Smith, Eunice Merritt, twin sister Velma Burnett and Pauline Nesbitt; and two brothers, Sam Boatright and
Jack Boatright.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Story, Ada; grandson, David Story and wife Sally, Edmond; granddaughter, Debbie Story Hicks and husband Bob, Oklahoma City; a great-grandson, Kyle Story, Edmond; and great-granddaughter,
Abby Story, Edmond; and several more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
