James B. Allred, 35, an employee of Belk's Department Store and well known in his section, died in Martin Memorial Hospital at 2 a.m. Monday following injuries received when he was struck by an auto near the Textiles Truckers office on the Fancy Gap Highway after midnight on Saturday Night.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Salem Methodist Church and burial followed in the church cemetery.
The Belk's Department Store was closed two hours Tuesday afternoon in respect of Mr. Allred.
Many beautiful floral offerings paid final tributes to the highly esteemed young man.
Surviving are his father and mother, Mr and Mrs. B.W. Allred; four brothers, Howard, Ed, Paul and Worth; two sisters, Mrs. R.C. Poore and Miss Mattie Allred all of Mount Airy.
