~ Keith Jacobs Obituary ~
Lifelong local resident Keith G. Jacobs, 85, passed away surrounded by family at his Kelso home Oct. 4, 2008.
He was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Kelso to Jess and Lola (Drury) Jacobs and spent his entire life in the Carrolls/Mt. Pleasant area. He graduated with the Kelso High School Class of 1940.
Keith served in the Army in Seward, Alaska, during World War II. He retired as a longshoreman out of Local #21. Keith was a member of the Kelso Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, crossword puzzles, cutting firewood, singing and playing guitar, and attending his lodge and retired longshoreman events. Keith was friendly, out-going, fun-loving and proud of his family's accomplishments.
On Jan. 20, 1948, he married Velma Wing in Vancouver. She survives him at home. Also surviving are two daughters, Vickie (Joe) Jordan and Roxanne Forrest (Knute Soliem), both of Kelso; a son, Keith E. Jacobs (Debbie Catlin) of Kelso; eight grandchildren, Jeff Mitchell (Lee), of Charlottesville, Va., Shawn Jordan of Atlanta, Ga., Buffy Clinton of Seattle, Jeremy Bowman, Matthew Forrest and James Jacobs, all of Kelso, Zane Jacobs of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kathryn Jacobs of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Thomas, Georgie Berry, Colleen Adrim and Joan McGeary; three brothers, Richard, Phillip and Tex Jacobs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A brother, Jesse Jacobs, preceded him in death.
A Masonic graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Masonic Lodge #94 will officiate. A celebration of Keith's life will follow at his daughter's home at 145 Apache Place on Mt. Pleasant.
