The body of Pvt. Kenneth H. Flack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin H. Flack, will be shipped to Morgan County for burial. Pvt. Flack, the son of Morgan County's day jailer, died in a Philippines bandit ambush January 29.
Word of the 20 year old youth's death was received by his parents in a telegram from Major General Edward F. Witsell, adjutant general of the Army.
He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. H.S. Kennemer, Lacey's Spring and Mrs. Shelby Cole, Paducah. Pvt. Flack attended Union Hill school.
Pvt. Flack had spent three months and two weeks on his current enlistment. He was with the engineers. He previously served one year in the Army.
The telegram said: "The Secretary of the Army has asked me to express his deep regret that your son Pvt. Kenneth H. Flack died Jan. 29, 1951 in the Philippine Islands as the result of a gunshot wound (received) when a jeep in which he was riding as a member of a reconnaisance party ambushed by bandit force".
The telegram continued saying the body will be returned to the States on the first available transportation. The Flacks said services will be held here when the body arrives. Brown's will arrange the burial.
