The son of Benjamin and Sallie Michie, he was born on September 29, 1891 and attended the Steele and Caruthersville schools, later graduating from Draughns Business College in Memphis.
In Portageville, on June 9, 1920, he was married to Miss Chlora Lee Lightfoot and the family moved from Steele to Caruthersville in 1923. He was employed at the old First National Bank and later at First State Bank, retiring on May 31, 1958.
He was a veteran of World War I and was active on the Fair Board for many years. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge, a former member of Kiwanis Club and was a director of the Caruthersville Savings and Loan Association.
Mr. Michie was a member of Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the Board of Stewards for 40 years and was a member of the Chancelchoir for 30 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Michie of the home; two sons, the Rev. Doyle Michie of Decatur, Ill. and Gene Michie of Tyler, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Floyd Brewer officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
