Rosamond Bateman Burch

Rosamond Bateman Burch, 85, a resident of Franklinton, died at 6:30 am on December 26 at Riverside Medical Center.

She was a retired clerical supervisor with the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. She was also recently retired from the Pro-shop at the Franklinton Country
Club where she was a former board member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the widow of Murphy James Burch.

Mrs. Burch is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William Murphy and Judith Rollins Burch of Baton Rouge and Phillip Maurice and Linda Hortman Burch Sr., of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, Katherine Whitney Burch, William Matthew Burch, Steven Rollins Stafford, all of Baton Rouge, Phillip Maurice Burch, Jr., of Gonzales, Jennifer Burch Higgins of Woodridge, VA, and Jeffery James Burch of Phoenix; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Burch and Madeline Higgins; a sister-in-law, Peggy Bateman of Franklinton; two nieces and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy James Burch, her parents, Dr. Maurice and Sadie Bateman and a brother, William E. Bateman.

Visitation was on Sunday, December, 27 from 3 until 9 pm in the Crain Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel on December 28. The Reverend Karl Tingle and the Reverend Dr. Joe Baugh officiated at the service.

Interment was in Ellis cemetery in Franklinton.

Active pallbearers for service were Phillip M. Burch, Jr., Matthew Burch, David Higgins, Robert Truett Jones, Steven R. Stafford and Horton Bateman.

Honorary pallbearers included Bill Babington, Dr. James Cody, Dr. Chris Foret, Dr. Mark James, Dr. James Bailey, Dr. R. L. Rollins, James Thomas, Ron Brumfield and the men of the Franklinton Country Club.
