Theo. Goedeke Passed Away at 2:10 This A.M.
Had Been a Resident of Abilene for More Than 20 Odd Years

Theodore O. Goedeke, aged 53 years, died at his home at 125 Elm street at 2:10 this Thursday morning following an apoplectic stroke Wednesday evening.

Surviving him are his children, Leonard of Thurber; Mrs. James Yates of Thurber; Pearl and Theodore, Jr., and his wife.

No arrangements have been made for the funeral pending arrival of Leonard Goedeke from Thurber, who is expected to arrive sometime this afternoon. Funeral will probably take place sometime Friday. He was a member of Sons of Hermann and other organizations which will probably take charge of the funeral.

Theodore Goedeke was well known throughout the Abilene country. He had been a resident of this city for at least thirty years, his parents coming to Abilene from Germany. For a number of years he engaged in the mercantile business in or near the present stand of C.C. Tate.

More recently for – for the past five years – he had been in the real estate business. He was well and favorably known and had numerous friends thru-out this section who learn with sorrow of his death. He was apparently in the best of health, but was sudden stricken with apoplexy during the afternoon and conveyed to his home, where every attention and service was tendered. However, at 2:10 this morning he passed away at his residence (4 unreadable words).

The Reporter extends sincere condolence to the bereaved in their sad trial.

LATER: The funeral will take place from the family residence, 125 Elm Street, tomorrow, Friday, afternoon at two o'clock. The Masonic lodge will have charge of the burial ceremonies. Interment will be made in the local cemetery.
