Died: Wednesday, July 15, 2009, in Mesquite, Texas
Funeral services for Edna Lou Morris, age 86, will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer will be Rev. Fred Lewis. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Morris passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite. Mrs. Morris was born on October 1, 1922 in Sulphur Springs the daughter of Edgar and Emma Lou (Day) Hunter. She married Darrell Lee Morris on April 20, 1950 in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2003. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved volunteering at the community center making porcelain dolls. Other survivors include one son, Rick Morris and wife Violet of Mesquite, one daughter, Karan Gross of Huntsville, AL, six grandchildren, Lisa Curry, Chris Childers, Jennifer Keller, Matt Morris, Cheri Cox, Debra Price and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Youth Ministry Fund. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Gross on November 18, 2002. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
