JOSEPH MERLE SORENSEN
Age 79 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday March 5, 2009 at Embassy Care Center Wilmington.
Born March 12, 1929 in Ritchie, Wesley Township to the late Arthur & Josephine (Shenk) Sorensen also preceded in death by two grandchildren Sara & Eric Tennant and one brother Calvin Sorensen. Survived by his loving wife Alice Marie (Bishop) Sorensen; two children Debbie Tennant and David (Janet) Sorensen both of Wilmington; four grandchildren Nikki, Kurt, Jeremy & Corina Sorensen; one great granddaughter Amber Tennant; two brothers Leslie Sorensen of Michigan/Florida and Eugene Sorensen of Kankakee; two sister-in-laws Josephine Sorensen of Manteno & June Jacque of Wilmington; one brother-in-law Hubert (Ann) Bishop of Manhattan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was a life long farmer in Wesley Township and former employee of Whitmore Ace Hardware of Wilmington. Member of Will County Farm Bureau and the Gleaner Society. Attended the Ritchey United Methodist Church since 1963.
Cremation rites have been accorded at his request. A gathering of family & friends on Friday March 13, 2009 from 12:00 Noon until time of a memorial service at 1:00PM with Rev. Hyujae Jay Lee officiating at the Freitag Funeral Home Wilmington. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army and Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the Ritchey United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
