DEATH OF LEVI TOOTHAKER, JR.
Levi Toothaker, Jr., a veteran of the Civil War, a member of Co. F. First Maine Cavalry, died Thursday morning at his home on Maine street, after a long illness, aged 70 years, 8 months and 22 days. He was born in this town and lived here practically all of his life. He was engaged in the livery stable business here for many years, first on Cumberland street, then at the Tontine stables, later at the Elm House stables, and about thirty years ago he started the business which eighteen years ago he sold to Dunning Brothers. For a number of years he had been an invalid, during the past four years being unable to take a step and for the past four months was confined to his bed. Brights disease was the direct cause of death.
Mr. Toothaker was a member of the Methodist church and actively interested in its welfare. Only a few weeks ago he gave a beautiful stained glass window to the church. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, Mrs. H. B. Dunning of this town and Mrs. Fred Milliken of Saco; two brothers Daniel and Charles of this town.
The funeral will be held in the Methodist church Saturday at 2 p. m.
