Lilly Marine and Lewis Hubbell were married by a Baptist minister on September 6, 1871 in Porter County, Indiana. Lewis Melvin Hubbell, son of Elisha and Milly A. Hubbell, had been born in May of 1849 in Elkhart County, Indiana. In 1880 Lilly, Lewis, and their children were living on a farm in Elkhart County. By 1885 they were living in Porter County, where two years later, Lilly died of consumption on May 15, 1887 at the age of 35. She was buried in the Marine family plot in Adams Cemetery.

Lewis Melvin Hubbell and Lilly A. (Marine) Hubbell had had four children, all born while the family was living in Elkhart County:
1. Willis M. Hubbell, born December 1872, married Amy G. "Nettie" Cornish on December 9, 1891 in Porter County, died there March 3, 1946, and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery.
2. Elisha L. Hubbell, born about 1877, married first, Martha Jack, daughter of David Luther Jack, on August 23, 1895 in Johnson County, Kansas. Elisha married second, Della LaDauer on October 27, 1900 in Porter County, Indiana. He died sometime after the 1920 census was taken and before his father died in the spring of 1930.
3. George M. Hubbell, born June 1880, married Amanda Chamberlain, died January 2, 1946, and was interred in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, Kansas.
4. Grace Hubbell, Lewis's and Lilly's youngest child, born February 12, 1882, was raised in the home of Lilly's sister and her husband, Viola and Fletcher White. Grace married Edgar Hall on July 1, 1916 in Lake County, Indiana, died sometime after 1947, and was interred in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana.

In November of 1887, Lewis moved to Kansas. He remarried in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas on December 4, 1888. By 1930 he was living in Minco, Grady County, Oklahoma and had married again. He died March 26, 1930 and was interred in Evergreen Cemetery in Minco.
