Emil Olson's Death -- The Linneus Bulletin of Linneus, Linn County, MO - Published Wednesday, November 13, 1901
News of the death of Emil Olson, which occurred at his residence in East Linneus at six-o'clock last Sunday morning, cast a gloom over our entire city. Until late on the previous evening strong hopes for his recovery had been entertained by those attending him, but competent medical skill and the tenderest of care by his loved ones failed to avail in his behalf. He continued to grow worse through out the night and in the morning, death came and relieved him of his sufferings.

At three o'clock on the following day funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. O.S. Basford, whose words were impressive and appropriate. A large procession then followed the remains to the new Linneus Cemetery where the burial rites were performed by the Knights Pythias of which order the deceased has long been a member. Emil Olson was a generous hearted man, a liberal contributor to the public enterprises and had many friends. He was married nearly three years ago to Miss Mattie Owen of Trenton, who survives him.

Among the number from a distance who attended the funeral services were the following: His only brother, August Olson of Westville, Mo., his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. P.O. Swanson of Vliets, Kas. A. Anderson of Bevier, Granville Owen and wife, Will Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Toll, Mrs. Samuel Lightner, B.A. Eslinger, and Mr. Owen, the father-in-law of the deceased, all of Trenton, and Mrs. Robertson and Messrs. A.F. and E.J. Robertson of Laredo. Numerous other friends of the deceased were present from Browning, Laclede, Brookfield and other points.
