A pioneer in the mechanic's hand tool industry, Francis Birney Farrington (1886-1962) was a decedent of early English settlers who came to the "New World" in 1635. His great-grandfather, Jacob Farrington (1770-1842) moved to Western New York in 1813. F.B. Farrington was born in South Wales, but lived most of his life in Orchard Park. He attended Keuka College in the Finger Lakes. He was active in the community and served as a volunteer fire commissioner in Orchard Park for 21 years. After nearly 40 years with Xcelite, he retired as president of the company at the end of 1959 but remained as chairman of the board.
