Marjorie Bellamy, daughter of Charles Merritt Howell & Brooksie (Dunn) Howell, was born August 14, 1909 near Vienna, IL. She departed this life Tuesday evening, March 2, 2004, at the Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis, IL. At the time of her passing, Marjorie had attained the age of 94 years 6 months & 17 days.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Guy Bellamy on November 23, 1930 in Golconda, IL. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1999.
Survivors include: 2 Sons – David Bellamy and Steve & Betty Bellamy all of Vienna, IL; a Grandson – Matthew Bellamy of Vienna, IL; 3 Step Grandchildren – Angela Kerley, Mike Kerley, & Tracey Thomas; 5 Step Great Grandchildren – Jessica, Christopher, Brandon, Brian & Moriah; Nieces & Nephews.
In addition to her Parents & Husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by 2 Brothers – Samuel Howell & Hartwell Howell.
Marjorie was a 1929 graduate of the Vienna High School. She received her Teacher's Certificate from S.I.U. Normal University at Carbondale, IL. She taught at the Wartrace Public School and the Bloomfield Public School. Marjorie was the co-owner & operator of the former Bellamy Greenhouse & Flower Shop. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Fruit Belt Farm Service, as well as working as a nurse in the office of Dr. Earl Veach, MD.
Marjorie was a member of the Daniel Chapman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member & Past Worthy Matron of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the former Valley # 108 White Shrine of Jerusalem. Marjorie was an active sponsor of the Rainbow Girls organization. She was a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Marjorie enjoyed sewing & quilting.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, March 5, 2004, at 2 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna. Interment will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 PM Thursday and from 7 AM – 12 Noon Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 1 PM – 2 PM Friday.
Eastern Star rites will be accorded at 7 PM Thursday under the auspices of Egyptian Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star.
