She was a native of Macon County and a prior resident of Detroit, MI, and was a current resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late William Coleman and Emily Jenkins Sheffield. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and six sisters. She was a 20-year employee with General Motors working in the Inspection Department and was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church in Franklin.
She is survived by a daughter, Bernice Owen of Canton; a half-sister, Edith Stoudemire of Franklin; five grandchildren, Andrea Gibson, Ardis Campbell, Lorie Hurst, Cynthia Welch, and Lisa Welch.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Paul Starnes officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tony Gibson, Alan Gibson, Jimmy Hill, Angelia Hill, Robbie Bartholomew, and Cliff Bell.
