George C. Hunt Dies In Mathews
Mathews, Nov. 11 - George C. Hunt, 90, died at his residence near Port Haywood, Mathews county, early this morning.
He was the son of the late Jacob and Sarah Hunt and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine Shawn Hunt; one daughter, Mrs. J. Mason Hudgins of Newport News; two sons, G. Lemuel and C. Edgar Hunt of Mathews; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Rivers and Miss Nettie S. Hunt of Jacksonville, Fla., and several grandchildren.
He was a member of Noamen Tribe of Redmen, Mathews council 82; Junior OVAM, Oriental lodge 20, A.F. and A.M.
Funeral cortege will leave Forrest funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday for St. Paul's M.E. church, of which he was a member, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. D. Garris and the Rev. W. C. Diggs. Interment will follow in Friendship cemetery.
