Thelma Marie Peters Gilbert, 78, the widow of Cecil Gilbert, formerly of Danville, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Frankfort.

Born April 16, 1931, in Bardstown, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Louise Watson Peters. She was a retired employee of Genesco and a member of First Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Bardstown High School and loved to read and take walks. A UK sports fan and a Cincinnati Reds fan, Thelma was a plain, simple woman but enjoyed her life and loved her children. She was a strong woman with strong beliefs.

Survivors include her four children, Helen (Eddie) Collins of Versailles, Danny Wayne (Kim) Gilbert of Nicholasville, Roy Lee (Margaret) Gilbert of Junction City and Bobby Joe (Beverly) Gilbert of Danville; one brother, Bruce (Frieda) Peters of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens
