Lucy Hall was the fifth of eleven children born to Avery and Lucy A. (Bacon) Hall on April 12, 1814, in Meridan, New Haven County, Connecticut. She moved with her family to Lorain County, Ohio, where she married Lorenzo Doty in 1836. Before dying on November 16, 1847, in Brighton, Lorain County, Ohio,. She and Lorenzo had at lease three children: Mark Avery, Egbert Lorenzo, and Lucy Emeline. After her death Lorenzo married Sarah Ames in 1853 and moved first to Iowa and then to Missouri.
