Mr. Henry Roose, a Pioneer Resident of Putnam County, Passes Away.
One by one the pioneer residents of Putnam county are passing away. On last Friday Mr. Henry Roose, an old and widely known resident of Putnam county, died at the home of his son, Auditor John E. Roose, in Ottawa. Mr. Henry Roose was born in Mahoning county, this state on July 2nd, 1829, and came to Putnam county in the year 1850 and settled in Jennings township where he resided until about twelve years ago, since which time he made his home with his sons. Mr. Roose was married to Elizabeth Diller on May 1st, 1851. By this union seven children were born, three of whom died in youth and one, a daughter, about three years ago. The sons are Peter, Geo. W and John E. who are still living. Mr. Roose also leaves twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one one great grandchild. Mr. Roose was a man highly respected by all his fellow citizens and his death will cause regret among a large circle of friends. At the time of his death he was aged 86 years, 11 months and 28 days.
His funeral took place at the Pleasant Vally M. E. church on last Sunday, at 2 o’clock p. m., and his remains were laid to rest in the Ottawa River cemetery.
