Survived 5 months at Andersonville and other Confederate prisons. Paroled 11/26/64. Mustered out 8/25/64. Living in Fort Edward, New York, on 1880 Federal census and on the SFVHA 1890 Roster. Described as a laborer in Fort Edward in the Glen Falls, New York, Directory of 1890. Listed on Special [Veterans] Schedule for Fort Edward noting disability incurred: sun stroke, chronic diarrhea, rheumatism [while a] prisoner at Andersonville 5 mos & 3 days. Died 6/2/1905. As Octavus Trackey buried in St. Paul's Cemetery at Kingsbury, New York. As Octavius Trakay after 25 years of trying and several applications granted an invalid pension in 1898 of $9 per month. Always related that he had a smoking pipe that a Confederate guard admired and he traded it for his parole from Andersonville.
