A resident of Sandy, Travis was born in Houston and grew up in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Monique Wright Sims; children, Jude and Carter Sims; parents, Carolyn and Steve Swinnea of Austin and Jim and Amy Sims of Vancouver; brothers, Mason Sims (Kerry) of Austin and Connor and Michael Sims of Vancouver. He honorably and faithfully served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation structural mechanic first class. He was currently serving as a recruiter at the Navy Recruiting Station in Gresham. He also served as an air framer with VAQ-137 "prowler" squadron and completed a deployment to Iraq on the USS Enterprise in support of the Global War on Terrorism and continued security of our nation's freedom. Travis was a good husband and father. We will all greatly miss him and have a lot of good memories to hold in our hearts. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham.
