Mr. Douglas was born in Schuyler, VA and was the son of the late Charles Watson Douglas and Helen Huffman.
Mr. Douglas was veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Corp. He was a former resident of Arlington, Virginia where he had a lifelong career in the road building business, working for Sidney R. Johnston, George R. Hall & Company and Owens and Dove.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #274 in Virginia Beach, the Kena Shriners Temple in Fairfax, VA, and the Virginia Beach Shriners Club. He was also a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church as an active volunteer and member of the Beasley Bible Class, past master of the Alberene Lodge, and a past patron of the Virginia Beach Chapter #75, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruby Lloyd Douglas, two daughters; Fonda J. Wise of Fairfax, VA, Mary Ella Douglas of Chesapeake, VA, two granddaughters; Tracy Svalina of Fairfield, PA, and Wendy Martin of New London, Ohio. He is also survived by his brother Franklin W. Douglas of Falls Church, VA, a sister Frances Cookenour of Esmont, VA and numerous other relatives and friends.
A chapel and Masonic service was conducted at the funeral home. The burial took place at the Monticello Memory Gardens Cemetery in Charlottesville, VA.
