Hazel Jarvis, 102, of Wilburton, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Latimer Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Wilburton with the Rev. April Coates and Dr. Billye Givens officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in Wilburton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton. Born Jan. 1, 1909, in Wilburton, she was the daughter of Will and Myrtle (Williams) Givens. She married Edmond Louis Jarvis on July 14, 1925. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilburton and the oldest living member. She served in the Church throughout her life as the church historian and gave devotional programs for the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter Aichihoyo No. 104 and served as Worthy Matron and Historian along with being the oldest living member. She enjoyed bird watching and had her little black book of family facts as the unofficial record keeper of the family. Survivors include her sister, Ada McKenna, Kennewick, Wash.; nieces and nephews, William Paul McKenna and wife, Ginger, of Washington, Janice Taylor and husband, Tom, of Florida, John Patrick McKenna and wife, Phyllis, of Washington, Beth Northrop and husband, Lynn, of Washington, and Dr. Billye Givens, of Wilburton, and cousins, Betty Nan and Bob Bowers, of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 1995; infant son; sister, Louise Givens, and brother, Bill Givens.
