John, P. Gallant of Andover, died on a Friday morning at the Town Manor Nursing Home following a short illness at the age of 93.

Mr. Gallant was a retired Pacific Mills employee. He attended St. Augustine's Church in Andover.

John wed Mathilda (Blacquiere) Gallant in Canada on September 14, 1897 and renewed their marriage vows on September 15, on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary. Very Rev. Henry B. Smith, O.S.A., pastor of St. Augustine's Church officiated at the 8 o'clock Mass. A family gathering at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gallant with whom they make their home followed. A large wedding cake decorated the table and the couple received many gifts and congratulatory messages from friends and relatives.

Survivors of John P. Gallant include his widow, Mrs. Mathilda (Blacquir) Gallant; three sons, Joseph, Theodore and Albin; a daughter Madiline, wife of Leo Gallant; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; also several neices and nephews.

The funeral was held on the following Monday from the M.A.Burke Memorial Funeral Home, Andover, with a high Mass of requiem at 9 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church. Rev. James A. Wenzel, O.S.A., was celebrant. Father Wenzel conducted committal services at the cemetery. The bearers, all grandsons of Mr. Gallant were: Ronald Arsenault, Roland, Francis, Clarence, Reginald and John Gallant his great-grandson.
