Peder was born on the farm of Helgeland, Hole Parish, Buskerud, Norway, the son of Jens Pedersen and Anne Hansdatter. He married Maria Christiansdatter on March 13, 1829 in Hole Parish. Peder and Maria immigrated to America June 1, 1867 to Quebec on the Bark Anna Delius. They made their way to Rushford, Fillmore, MN and in 1871 emigrated to Lake Park Township, along with their son, Jens Pedersen Foss and his wife, Lena. Peder and Maria had 4 children, Anne, who died in Helgeland in 1834, Ann who remained in Norway and married Johannes Christianson, Karen Pedersdatter and Jens Pedersen, who is buried in this cemetery. Jens took the name of Foss from an area called Honefoss,which is an annex of Norderhov where the family last lived in Norway. Jens and his wife Lena are buried alongside Peder and Maria.
