Author. He was a celebrated novelist whose work explored the boundaries between fact and fiction. Burn began his career as a journalist, writing publications for Guardian, Rolling Stone and Esquire magazines. His first novel "Alma Cogan" (1991), won the Whitbread Award for Best First Novel. His other novels included "Fullalove", "The North of England Home Service" and "Born Yesterday: The News As A Novel". His nonfiction books ranged from crime to sports included "Pocket Money: Inside The World Of Snooker", "Football, Fame And Oblivion" and "Happy Like Murderers: The Story of Fred and Rosemary West". He died of cancer.
