Annie M. Hessel, 91, of West died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in West. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Chapel in West with the Rev. Jane Lovett officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Gerald.

Mrs. Hessel was born March 18, 1907, in Tours, Texas, the daughter of Ignatius and Pauline Berger. She married Walter Max Hessel on Sept. 20, 1924. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1970. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and canning fruits and vegetables. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald.

She is preceded in death by a son, Vernon Hessel, who died Sept. 1, 1994, and a granddaughter, Gwen Hessel, who died on Oct. 6, 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Hessel and his wife, Mary of Waco and Kenneth Hessel of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister Hattie Kucera of Waco; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association or to West Rest Haven Memorial Fund.
