Cora Ethel Hayes was born on April 16, 1899 in Washington County, Ohio. She was the daughter of John and Arminda (Greathouse) Hayes.

Cora grew up with her eight siblings in Lawrence Township, Washington County, Ohio. She attended the local schools and completed the 8th Grade.

Cora married Ernest Raymond Hamilton, son of William Ellsworth and Sophia Ann "Sophie" (Bowers) Hamilton, on April 12, 1918 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Williamstown, Wood County, West Virginia. They were united in marriage by Minister C.E. Hamrick.

Together Ernest and Cora had 3 sons: Arthur Ronald (July 11, 1918-December 26, 1990), Lloyd Eugene (June 5, 1921-March 26,1994) and Gerald Raymond Hamilton (Born January 22, 1932).

Cora was a housewife from the time of her marriage until her death. She was a Protestant by faith.

Cora died on August 7, 1977 at her home in Wingett Run, Washington County, Ohio. At the time of her death she was survived by her husband, three sons, two brothers, four sisters, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother. She is buried at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Reno, Washington County, Ohio.
