She was born Dec. 15, 1910, in Eveleth, the daughter of Anton and Johanna (Gornik) Ahlin. She graduated from Eveleth High School and the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a bachelor of science degree in education. She taught in Leonidas, Mountain Iron, Eveleth, Aurora and Babbitt. She lived in Aurora for many years before moving to Virginia in 1983.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia, the Retired Educators of Minnesota, National Education Association, Minnesota Education Association, Northeastern Retired Teachers Association, Women of the Moose, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and had served as treasurer and vice president of the Virginia Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three nephews, Ron (Sandie) Ahlin of Ely Lake, James Ahlin of Eveleth and Dennis Ahlin of Duluth; two nieces, Roberta Reilly of Pine City, Minn., and Joanne (Charles) Bruin of Margaretville, N.Y.; great-nephews, Steve Ahlin of Pleasant Lake, Tony Ahlin of McKinley and James Ahlin of Denver, Colo.; a great-niece, Mary Ann Ahlin of St. Cloud, Minn.; a great-great-niece; a great-great-nephew; two sisters-in-law, Ann Ahlin of Hemet, Calif., and Carolyn Ahlin of Lumberton, N.C.; and special friends, Al and Renee Koroshec of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Anton, Frank, Rudy, John, Louis and Bernard; two sisters, Marie Reilly and Margaret Rusich; and infant siblings.
