He was married to Emily Harriet Robinson (1866-1925) in Logan, Utah on 30 April 1886.
Old Stagecoach Driver and D.R.G. Conductor Dies
Funeral services for Jesse Willis, 75, who died at his home here Sunday of ailments resulting from stomach trouble, were held Tuesday afternoon in the First ward chapel, with C. P. Black of the ward bishopric in charge.
Speakers were Bishop Elbert Parker of Joseph. President R. D. Young and A. G. Young. A ladies chorus, directed by Mrs. Lizzie Hansen sang, "Mid Scenes of Confusion," and "Rest for the Weary Soul." "Bury Me Near the Old Home," was sung by a quartet composed of Lucian Winget, Arthur Lundgreen, Walter O. Lundgreen and Thomas Ransom of Monroe. Wm. G. Black offered the opening prayer, and the benediction was by John A. Parker of Joseph.
Interment was in the Joseph cemetery, where Peter Lott of Joseph dedicated the grave.
Mr. Willis was born at Beaver January 1, 1858. As a young man before the advent of the railroads to southern Utah, he drove a stagecoach in Richfield and in Juab county. He later was conductor on the Marysvale branch of the D. & R. G. and after retiring from the service made his home at Joseph and later at Richfield.
Surviving Mr. Willis are five sons, Earl Willis of Long Beach, California, George Willis of Lehi, Arthur Willis of Richfield, Joseph and Walter Willis of Salt Lake; three daughters, Mrs P. Howard Bishop, California, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Salt Lake and Mrs. Julia Edwards of Richfield.
