Mrs. Myrtle Bessie Thomas Henderson, 92, died Monday (July 20, 2009) at the Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick after a brief illness.

She was a native of Brantley County but had resided in Dixie Union most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. Thomas and Agnes Griffin Thomas; a son, Tommy Henderson; a granddaughter, Cathy Sports; four sisters, Alene James, Fannie Dickerson, Naomi T. Strickland and Edna Strickland; three brothers, Clyde T, Willard and Omer Thomas. She was a Homemaker and a member of Haywood Baptist Church.

The survivors include a daughter, Linda Sports (husband Bobby) of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Connie Croft (husband Eric) of Brunswick, Rhonda Terry (husband Donald ) of Brunswick, Bill Henderson (wife Karla) of Valdosta, Andy Henderson (wife Ranee) and Corey Henderson ( wife Cherry) both of Waycross; eight great grandchildren, Tyler Croft, Donald Terry, III , Katie Terry all of Brunswick, Palmer Henderson, Payton Henderson, both of Valdosta, Terry Henderson, Colt Henderson and Caden Henderson all of Waycross; a sister, Ruth Davis of Macon; a brother, Floyd Thomas (wife Margurite) of Waycross; numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at funeral home.
