Funeral Services for J.W. Beckford, 91, formerly of 811 E. Findlay St., Carey, were held Tuesday in Hartley Funeral Home, McComb, Pastor Don Fleming, officiated. Burial was in McComb Union Cemetery.

Mr. Beckford died Jan. 4th in Indian Trail Nursing Home, Carey, where he had been a patient for a year and a half.

He was born Jan. 31, 1888 in Belmore, to William and Ella (Rogers) Beckford. He married Erma Jay on Nov. 15, 190, and she died in Feb. 1945. He later married Blossom Reynolds on Aug. 9, 1952 and she died Dec. 27, 1976.

Surviving include three sons, Francis of Deshler, Scott of Rudolph, Gene of Carey, a stepson, Frank L. Funk, McComb, three stepdaughters; Mrs. Keith (Lois) George and Mrs. Ronald (Dorthea) George, both of Leipsic; Mrs. William (Margaret) Bibler, North Baltimore; 24 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beckford was a retired farmer who worked in Hancock and Wood Counties. He was a former member of Shawtown Grange. He attended First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey.

Memorials may be made to the church of the donor's choice.
