Virgil T. Buck, 96, a native and life long resident of Robertsdale, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of WWII. He was the principal of Robertsdale High School for 22 years; was a member of the Robertsdale First Baptist serving as deacon, Sunday School Teacher, choir member and other areas of ministry; was also on the Robertsdale Town Council and other town committees; and was the president and served in other positions for the Baldwin County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Gayle (David) Gunter of Lucedale, Miss.; sister, Mary Vivar of Robertsdale; two brothers, C.M. Buck Jr. of Robertsdale and Robert Buck of Mobile; two grandchildren, Robert Gunter and Brian (Dani) Gunter; and one great-grandchild, Cole Gunter.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26 at the Robertsdale Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery in Robertsdale.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Robertsdale First Baptist Church, Hwy. 104, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
