Lillian Fern Brubaker 97, of Traer died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA.

She was born June 26, 1914 at Camp, Arkansas, daughter of Lewis and Olive Conrad Reeves. She married Rupert Brubaker on February 10, 1932, at Tranquility Presbyterian Church, rural Traer. He died June 25, 1996. She and Rupert farmed in Grant Township for many years. After retirement they traveled extensively, and sometimes combined business with pleasure. They worked as care-givers at Sac City for a year and Ault, Colorado for two years. She was also head cook at the South Fork Lodge, at Buffalo, Wyoming for a year. Fern loved flowers, cooking, baking, fishing and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church for nearly 80 years.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Mary Lou Jackson and three sons, Samuel, Bert and Craig and five sisters and two brothers and is survived by two daughters, Lora (Dave) McMillan of Traer and Carol (Jerry) Walton of Sacramento, California and a son-in-law Ed Jackson of Marshalltown, numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, four sisters, Georgia Eibey of Waterloo, Pearl McKinley of Traer, Jean (Leonard) Randall of Waterloo and Rosiva Swanson of rural Traer and one brother Louis (Helen) Reeves of Sherrard, Illinois.
