She was born April 9, 1917, in Gildehaus, the daughter of the late Benjamin Breitenbach and his wife, Annie, nee Gerdes.
Mrs. Hanneken received her education at St. John the Baptist School.
On April 19, 1939, she was united in marriage to Elmer H. Hanneken at St. John the Baptist Church. They made their home in Labadie and to this union eight children were born.
She was a homemaker until she went to work for Kellwood Manufacturing, where she was employed for 27 years.
In 1951, she and her husband moved to Port Hudson. The couple moved to Clover Bottom in 1973. In 1983, they moved to Washington.
Mrs. Hanneken was a member of Holy Family Church in Port Hudson and St. Gertrude Church in Krakow. She later was a member of St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington. While at these parishes she was active in their ladies sodalities.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hanneken was preceded in death by her husband; three children, Jerome, Eugene and Mary Ann Hanneken; two brothers, Al and Clarence Breitenbach; and one brother-in-law, Ted Hanneken.
She is survived by four sons, Leo Hanneken and wife Dorothy, Donald Hanneken and wife Linda and Leonard Hanneken and wife Karen, all of Washington, and Carl Hanneken and wife Norma, Union; one daughter, Patricia Seibert and husband Michael, Cuba, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Irene Hanneken; one brother, Ray Breitenbach and wife Henrietta, Union; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, July 13, at Holy Family Church, Port Hudson, with the Rev. Jim Foster officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Holy Family Ladies Sodality, St. Gertrude Ladies Sodality or Masses are preferred.
The Hanneken family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
